Since I'm sharing this with the fine folks at chaps, I thought a place other than my personal discord would be good while I figure out the wiki situation. yes I'm still sobbing at the fact that I'm gonna be writing dozens of indepth profiles #ocs

Name: Vida ████ Valentyne

Age: 13/14ish?

Gender: female

Starter: Pichu initially (from an egg, presumably from her parents' pichu and mawile) who evolves into a Raichu while staying in Alola for a conference with her parents (before the events of Sun/Moon) unsure! Considering her parents probably something steel/ghost/dark/psychic. I'll look into it. When she moves to Paldea it's a Fuecoco though. Pawniard, Beldum, Bronzor, Honedge?

Personality:

• Surprisingly competitive
• inquisitive by nature, always wanting to know how stuff works
• One track mind, is very bad about making sure she takes care of herself when in the zone (making her responsible for someone else is a good idea, because while she might forget to feed herself, she will feed others like clockwork and it’s easy enough for them to remind her to eat then)
• Perfectionist, detail oriented, “Do it right or don’t do it at all” mentality. She prefers to see things through to the end.
• Can be okay with mistakes in others, but is overly critical of her own mistakes.
• Type 1: The Reformer
• She’s not a neat freak, but she thinks people should dress well so people can take you seriously – simple jeans and a shirt is fine for day to day (although Vida will always prefer something slightly classier than ones you can grab off the rack at the pokemart) – her parents 100% blame growing up often in Kalos and occasional stays in Ecruteak with her grandparents for this because neither gives a hell about fashion but Vida legit buys the pokemon equivalent to vogue along with popular science every other week.
• When she’s uncomfortable or upset, Vida’s MO is either to retreat or snap. Personally, she prefers a retreat, to swallow her hurt because snapping and getting visibly angry is unslightly.
• Vida’s used to research which, while it can be unpredictable and crazy, it’s a type of unpredictable that’s reliable and known to her; Vida’s grown up pretty much her whole life in either labs with her father, or the field with her mom. Meeting new people and pokemon in lab settings is much different than meeting them on the road, connecting with them, all things that Vida has little experience with. Other than her parents and her team, all her relationships are professional before going to Uva/Naranja
• Vida's treasure hunt was to make friends. And find a dream. She wants to either be a fashion designer or a sex toy designer lmao
• Feels everything has a scientific explanation, even if the science isn’t there yet. She breaks things down into the basic science of an event. There’s plenty of things humanity doesn’t know about the world, but reaching out to go over what they do know makes her feel better. Huge proponent of Clark’s Law

Background story:

• parents aren't together, but her grandparents wanted a grandkid to spoil, her dad and uncle are too fucking gay for that, and her ma told her coworker she'd rent out her womb if he helps her with her research project. It's Unorthodox but it works for them.
• grew up traveling across regions as her parents were coworkers working under the same research team. Dad is a lab tech, mom is a field researcher
• she's not sure it every member of the research team is fucking or getting fucked by pokemon but she knows there's definitely more than her parents so she's kinda just... used to it :)
• mom is a steel type enthusiast with a love of one bug type (vida wants to catch an iron moth and slither wings for her lol)
• dad's main partner is an absol but used to be a psychic trainer. Now he currently doesn't have a particular typed team. It's mostly “do they get along with absol? Then they're fine”
• moves to paldea specifically to have a stint of time where Vida is around people her own age. Vida isn't really into gym challenges but uses it as an excuse to travel.

Battle strategy: TBD but leaning on glass canon, hit them hard and fast or lots of pivot moves to poke

Favorite pokemon: now it's a shiny iron valiant who recently made her his bitch lmao hmm probably a toss up of Skeledirge or the final Evo of her Starter

Team: (tentatively, not 100% sold on maushold and zoroark)

Special abilities:

• stupidly susceptible to psychic powers/hypnosis
• great at languages! Able to pick them up easily. Works hard translating ruins and ancient languages may or may not be a psychic power
• latent psychic ability is psychometry – being able to view events that happened in the past by touch. Generally wears long sleeves or gloves all the time to not deal with that. Unlike her father and uncle, Zero telekinesis/empathic powers. Can however teleport small objects to/away from her (if she wanted to be a Thief she'd be fairly successful lmao)
• okay, got it. psychometry but not broken like minoru's so it's more like... only able to see a glimpse of the last 24hrs. still not fun most of the time, but it's nowhere near deliberating. she has telekinesis but only able to affect things within her line of sight that she can physically pick up (cumulative, so she can pick up 50lbs but can't pick up multiple 50lb things, but juggling 10 5lb items is doable). also she knows where shit is which makes for great party tricks.

• older sibling is zizi. parents are analiese and minoru.
• seen in the fics Stay Cool And Be Somebody's Fool This Year (pokephilia, implied udnerage) and That's Seen As We Go (Larry x Vida, implied underage)
• So. Funnily enough I actually wrote Vida's base backstory like... almost 5 years ago. Just changed her name (being the kid of platonic soul mates ana and minami) and added a few things (like the pokefucking)
