Fueled by the LOVE OF HIS FRIENDS and MUTUAL FEELINGS, he pilots a mecha with alien origins in pursuit of FAIRNESS. Despite his EXTREMELY OVER-THE TOP DISPLAY, he's actually quite calm and humble outside the cockpit.
He doesn't actually sit when controlling his mecha, let alone press any buttons. Instead, there's black goo that completely covers his body before his armor goes on top. It may not look like much, but it actually decreases the latency between him and his mecha almost to the point where there is none.
